This is a great summer for Comic Book events!

Besides New York ComicCon (that’s October 6-9 at the Javits Center, for those of you who have been space traveling and didn’t hear about it) there are so many more.

The first annual Liberty City Anime Con started today and goes all weekend in Times Square. Some pretty great guests are scheduled to appear and I think it’s going to be loads of fun. I’m going as myself and hope to win the costume contest.

The Museum of the City of New York is hosting Bob Mankoff, Cartoon Editor of The New Yorker. Thursday, September 8, 6:30-8:30 PM. Great after-work event. 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street. http://mcny.org/. They are also hosting Roz Chast, a long-time contributor to The New Yorker, as well as an author and cartoonist, on September 17th at 6:30 pm.

FlameCon 2 is at the Marriott, Brooklyn Bridge this weekend as well. Lots of great guests including the great Amy Chu, with a mind-blowing resume that includes wrining for DC, Vertigo, Marvel, IDW and cofounder of Alpha Girl Comics. http://www.flamecon.org/

And a little tease for the fall:
